Résumé
To me, design is a dance. A stage is a blank page where the dancers are the choices of type, color, and form. I grew up on stages. I spent my childhood dancing hula and learning how to tell stories through movement. This unique form of dance is a space where cultural stories can be interpreted in so many different ways. Hula is my foundation. It’s where I learned how to build from criticism and was my first introduction to expressive visual art. Now I translate the principles I learned from dance—harmony, variety, and sequencing—into how I approach design. Each little detail matters, from the exact 45° in which a foot must be angled to the smallest icon on a bottle.
